Guided self discovery and curiosity evoke better use of your skeleton and thus your whole-self. Your skeleton is that part of you that bears weight and transmits force. Most adults however tend to under utilize their skeletons and overwork their musculature which is commonly identified as poor posture with associated muscular stress, tension, stiffness, limited joint flexibility, pain and possible injury.

How is Feldenkrais taught at Inner Strength?

Classes called “Awareness Through Movement” lessons (ATM)
Participants are verbally led through a series of structured movement sequences, which utilize attention, perception and imagination. Designed to evoke a more synergistic use of yourself, the lessons establish new patterns of movement. As the lessons progress, participants become more aware of their movement habits, affording them new patterns of behavior. The movements are usually done lying down or sitting, and in a manner that recognizes each participant’s own pace and range of motion. Comfort, ease, and the quality of movement are the main criteria used towards developing greater ease with what you do and how you do it.

Individual lessons called “Functional Integration” (FI)
This is a hands-on process which addresses particular individual problems. Fl lessons are tailored to each client's needs. The Feldenkrais practitioner guides your movements through precise touch.
The client lies or sits, comfortably clothed, on a low padded table. The practitioner brings present habits into focus and offers new movement options.
The learning is then applied to everyday activities such as reaching, sitting, standing and walking.
